3 WHAT is biodiversity in the city? Ever wondered what all the fuss is about biodiversity? Well, this is your chance to find out and explore the variety of living things that surround us in the city. During National Science Week we invite you to make your way around Sydney or Albury for Biodiversity in the City. Come and talk to scientists and experts from leading scientific institutions about the biodiversity research that they do, and take part in loads of activities all across the city! WHEN is biodiversity in the city? Sydney on Sunday August 15 and 22, 12:00 pm -- 4:00 pm Albury on Saturday August 21, 12:00 pm -- 4:00 pm WHY...? It's the International Year of Biodiversity and it's time to celebrate! HOW do we get there? Catch a bus, train or ferry into Sydney City for only $2.50 for Family Funday Sunday. Then use your legs to walk the Biodiversity in the City trail. WHO...? Scientists and experts from ten different scientific organisations, you can meet and talk to scientists whose job it is to explore: Parklands -- plants, birds and bugs and the biodiversity in the city's backyard DNA -- genes and the blue print of life Marine life -- what lives in the deep blue sea Endangered -- animals on the brink of extinction Microbes -- the smallest but most diverse living things Final Frontier -- what we don't know about life on Earth and in outer space WHERE is biodiversity in the city?
